Mudfest 2010!

Finoa and I at the beginning of the fest.

**Disclaimer: This post is not for the faint of heart, or the sober. While this is a true account, I refuse to be held responsible for your disapproved looks**

So this weekend was MUDFEST. Which is exactly as it sounds. Its a weekend when every expat(Teacher, military and whatever have you) makes a pilgrimage to the beach to eat, drink, and play in the surf and the mud activities they had. A bunch of my friends decided to go through adventure korea, while most made it down on their own devices. We stopped at the beach they get the mud at first and played some EXTREME mud games. Okay, not so extreme, but we ran around mud flats in the rain, whiped out and had too much fun. Awesome.
We showered off and cruised to the actual Daechon Beach. We dropped off our stuff, made our way to a convenience store for some necessities, like flip flops and beer and roamed to the beach where it had stopped raining, allowing us to play in the waves. After that, I met up with some old friends and pretty much everybody I know in Korea, and we played on mud slides, in a mud prison where they hose you with mud, and with colored mud. All in all, it was fantastic! After doing this for a few hours, we dragged our wet, muddy drunk asses back to the hostel, where we cleaned up and went out for dinner.
We had shellfish on the grill, and it was delightful!
Yum
we watched fireworks show and hung out ont the beach, playing with fireworks and playing some soccer with old koreans who insisted on feeding us.
I then met up with some friends and we people watched and drank for a while, before we decided to go to bed. After stumbling to my hotel room TRAGEDY STRUCK! One key+5 drunk foreingers=no bedtime for EP. So I wandered the streets until I heard Errrrrrrrriiiiin Pryor! I turned around, and it was a friend from where I live. I was stoked to see him, so I chatted with him for a while until the girl who had our key stumbled past me! Alls well that ends well.

The next day we woke up and ate pizza before laying on the beach for the majority of the afternoon. I fell asleep, and therefore am sunburned. But its okay. We walked through the festival, said goodbye and rolled home to Seoul.

All in all it was a fantastic weekend. I love living in Korea, I really do. But sometimes, hanging out with people who only speak English, being drunk, laying on the beach, eating junk food is refreshing. Its almost like I was able to forget I was in Korea, even if it was only for a few days. it obviosuly wasn't the same, but it was as close as you can get. it was a lot of fun to catch up with people I haven't seen in a few months. It was kind of like a spring break atmosphere, where everybody invades a town and pillages it buying it out of ice cream and beer.

Patience, Faith and a few showers;
